Hi everyone, I have just joined up. I wanted to say that lately (over the last 10 years) that turbanned Sikh men are having a huge problem trying to find a wife within the Sikh community. My female cousins discriminate against me and are all married to christain or non-turbanned men. I dont know what it is like for other sardars, but i would like your views on this. I have noticed that i get much much more acceptance from non-Sikh women. I am engaged to an English woman. She is so accepting of me and has great respect for my turban. She says that my turban gives me great character likes the fact that i wear a turban as it distinguishes me from all the other men. I am very interested to hear the views from other sardars as to what is happening within the Sikh community. thank you.

Well Hi there my view on this is I would get married to a man who is clean shaven. My dad used to wear a turban but had now he has cut his when he got married as that was his own choice. If my dad still had a turban then I wouldn't mind marrying a man who sleeper a turban. This I think only happens with girls wanting to marry a guy who wears a turban for their own choice or maybe its in the family.

i agree with you mate, my older cousin brothers all wear turbans and are finding it hard to find a girl which i think is appauling. the even more shocking thing is that all my cousin sisters want to marry a guy with cut hair, fair enough the chioce is theirs but to rule guys with turbans our completely is wrong i think.

^^ Things is, it is easy for us to say ''Sikh women dont go for turbaned singhs'', but if we r honest, the majority of turbaned singhs eat meat, drink alchohol, and trim their beard. So what diff. does it make?
I am not saying ALL ''turbaned singhs'' are like that, obv. their are the sardars who are committed to their faith.
I dont think it is just the ''turbaned sikhs'' that are struggling to get married, this is a problem for a lot of girls, and boys, cut or hair or not!

What is the point of tying a pagh if u are going to trim ur beard, and eat meat, and drink alchohol. Fake comes to mind!!

the problems with sikhs guys n skih girls will always exists where the girls wants non pagh walla. but, i think they are just living in dream world. if ur a sikh and dnt want to marry a pagh walla, either is is that you dont know enough about why hey wear the pagh, or just dn like the image, i myself get soo much respect from gori lokk. in fact, i was out once and my freinds mate...asked..how long my hair is.now..pardon the frenc..but she was S#!tting it and i replied, its ok to ask...she learned and now she respects me soo much, but apniya kuriyan have a diff view. i dnt care what ppl think, the pagh is worn for a reason and shall remain our identify. punajbi kuriyan - id would like ur views. im sicj of hearing about sikh girls who dnt dont like thier them own dharam de munde with paghs....!
i could go on, fact is, it all about image!..some girsl dnt want to b seen with a pagh walla.!...

I don't mind marrying a pagh walla but for me know one in my family wears the pagh so that, means I will get married to a non pagh walla and I know when wearing the pagh it shows ur identity and it makes u look like the gurus and I respect that.

sorry but correct me, but why do you have to come from a family that wear pagh in order to have a pagh walla has a husband, it should not matter, what this says to me is that it has affecte dyour undrstanding ofs ikhi and your up bringing, i think it would be godo to bring saradar into the family to strenghten dharam and you';d prob have a better relationship.
anyhow, it sjust a thought!

paaagh or no paghhh...everyone should be seen equally. it's whether the guy can be a proper husband that matters, well that's how i'd see it..others may beg to differ, but if it's all about image...then your looking for the wrong attributes in a husband because his image will fade away in the years you'll be together and it's the person that'll matter. ok im going to stop talking sopppy maaaaaynnn!

^^^ yh but, all sikh women who wear turbans are the full on religious type and what are the odds of her even considering marrying a guy who wears a turban but eats meat for example.

don't generalise or stereotype
learn to do that first, then talk.
most likely you wont, everyone is different at the end of the day, each person is unique to everyone, who follows different views and values in life
this thread is pointless.

Iv got fam and friends who wear turbans, and they never get this problem, they actually pull more than me, i have short hair.
I jus feel its easy for people to say 'its coz i wear a turban', maybe its not the turban, maybe you are lacking in other ways, in terms of a personality, i dont know.

come on ,about the no meat and no shraab thing, guy doesn;t have to give up those things just cos they wear pugh.
Wearin pugh don;t mean they are amrit shaak. Besides nihang singhs do both shraab and meat anyway, so can't really force pugh wala to be no meat and no alcohol.
By the way I don;t drink, but I still ain;t against pugh waley drinkin.
