Just stummbled across this via LionHeartz News letter
Forget the manny sandhu diss and whatever this guys beef is with him but is this msg summing up the affect of bhangra and its affect on our culture? respect to women? and encouraging such behavior which we wouldnt expect members of our own family doing i.e. going out getting drunk, having our sisters half dressed, sisters drinking, etc etc?

Intresting topic But to be honest You can't just blame Manny Sandhu or Hard Kaur, look at the Bhangra industry as a whole And while I do drink when i go out & may wear the odd short dress, I never get so pi$$ed that I dont know wht I'm doing or allow anyone to try & chat me up so they can get me into bed. And I don't drink at family weddings, may have 1 or 2, but not more at friends weddings. It's totally upto yourself as a person to have self control. Also listen to Nihal's show on BBC Asian network from Friday about drinking at weddings www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/b006wqgk/console

most videos are designed to be show up showing the artists with a load of people he has never met or their "mates" in a club holding / drinking alcohol - very original lol.
videos need to show the song rather than some panzy jumping up and down - shindas videos are class, tara, ghum sum, apni banaleh not to mention the religious ones. they all add to the song compared to the other artists videos

Ah brown boy took it down! I didnt even get to watch it all
the way I see is, all these UK asian artists are taking this concept from hip hop - around 10 years ago you would of never seen girls being portrayed in a video in the way they are, but you need to look at it in two ways - yes its promoting it saying thats its ok but also you need to remember most asian girls regarding of if there indian, pakistani, sri lankan, bangladeshi all go out and do it either freely or behind there parents back i.e. just look at university life style
I think if anyone it was big suga kane who started this off with videos especially from that labh janjua album the king

How boring are these 'OUR CULTURE' threads!
Let people act and behave how they choose and concentrate on your own lives!

Most young asians don't even listen to Bhangra, so I think the music/videos has about 0% influence on the majority of young people, the small amount who do follow the scene should be served up something better than half naked ugly girls or the promotion of alcohol.
