for the hardcore live circuit enthusiasts.....
whats your allstar band? theres loads of talent out there in various bands but if u was to put one together who would it be?
here is mine
Keyboards: Bhota Jagpal - master keyboardist, single handedly making SAFRI boys.
Drums: Juggy DCS - hard choice, it was between juggy and Happy from DCS but I choose Juggy for his innovative use of drum pads.
Bass: Joggers Jazzy B - purely for his experience, being part of one of the tightest bands around
Electric Guitar: Steve DCS
Tabla: Juggy (Cov) small guy plays with loads of ppl including Lembhar HussainPuri and Sukhshinder Shinda
Dhol: 2 Dholis - Aman Hayer & Bill (Jazzy B) dont need to say anything bout Hayer, but Bill is the most energetic dholi ive ever seen, U seen Jazzy B Live u know what I Mean.
Dholki: Tubsy DCS - Tubsy has been on the fore front of the scene for over 15 years. helping create that safri boys sound, he has lent his talent to many bands and singers and is currently rippin with with Shin.
Sound Engineer: Purdy Bhogal, old skool engineer from THE Sahotas band

i remeber a post like this a few months ago so i thought id copy and paste my post.
this is my ultimate band from musicians based in the uk bhangra scene. it is a mix of the most technically giffed like pele's and zidane to the hard working dependables like makalele and dechampe.
everyone in the 2 bands would have worked together as a unit and not a bunch or prima-donas
the band of all time
ravi - drums (pardesi) r.i.p the most dynamic drummer iv ever seen. so much passion every-time he played. should never have been taken away from us. the left handed drummer who played right handed. other drummer would pay to watch him play. never forgotten - rest in peace ravi
frantic kam - guitars (pardesi) other bands had guitarist who played simple chords and pieces. frantic kam took that at rocked the stage with his style which was a hard rock groove and indian melodies. loud, raw rock grooves which revolutionized bhangra sounds. now a world class engineer and playing bass for achanak.
rag - keys (pardesi) the most innovative man in bhangra music. this guy introduced sampling, he used sampling on stage, a great producer (pump up the bhangra, shake you pants) but screwed his life life up.
ravi bal - keys (malkit/as kang) one of the most creative men to grace the live circuit with both malkit and kang. his time was 1994/1995 when he musically carried bands. great producer as well.
davinder kalsi - tabla (apna sangeet) it was a choice between parv from dcs and kalsi and i had to go with the most solid beat keeper iv ever seen on a bhangra stage. every took notice of g.mall but it was kalsi who carried apna sangeets solid beat section. underrated too much but is still kicking it now.
parv - dholack/tabla (dcs) but considering that i have money like abramovic, id have to include parv on dholack and tabla top end. just like kalsi was never noticed cos of g.mall for apna, parv was never noticed by the public cos of juggy on drums and jassa on dhol. truth is parv was the beat behind dcs, juggy followed him. parv set standards that noone has ever matched today. the speed and solidness this guy played with defied belief.
tubsy - dholack (safri boyz) this guy became so good so quickly that people around him f**ked him up. like kalsi, the most solid and creative dholck player and played for safri when they never used a dhol or tabla player. its his dholck on dhola ve dhola, bomb the tumbi and now kicks ass with dcs.
jonny kalsi - dhol (alaap) unlike g.mall, this guy entertained and can play dhol. yes, mall brought forward the dhol to the live circuit but jonny took the entertainment and added real dhol playing on stage with a difficult percussion band in alaap. now rockin the world with t.d.f.
the band of current musicians
bill - dhol (jazzy b) never in my life have a need a dholi's hands move so fast. as jazzy b says, he's a machine gun! he must be the fastest dhol player in the world. not only that but he's the cleanest dholi in the beats he plays at that speed. started out with 4x4 dancers in gravesend.
juggy rihal - tabla (apna sangeet/dalvinder/sukshinder shinda) started playing for anamika since the age of 12 and at 25 is one of the multi talented percussionist in the history of bhangra music live on stage. amazing tabla player and is the most active musician in the industry full stop. known in the industry but is very underrated.
aman hayer - dholack (jazzy b/shinda) not just a ground shaking producer but a ground shaking dholack player. never since the days of the old tubsy have i seen anyones play solid dholacks like aman. although now he's playing keys at times for shinda and dhol with jazzy, he's not as hot on them as he is on the dholacks. phenomenal.
harry mattaru - keys (apna sangeet/dalvinder) bad attitude, good keyboard player. has played full time with malkit, safri, apna sangeet, dalvinder and everyone else in between. can adapt quickly to any band at any time. its just a shame his attitude lets him down at times.
dipps bhamrah - keys (apna sangeet) 10 years with apna sangeet and iv seen this kid carry the band musically by himself. who in the bhangra industry can say they play bass, chord, samples, lead pieces, samples and do backing vocals and keep beat on stage with no guitarist or second keys player? solid and dependable.
steve - guitar (dcs) technically, creatively this guys is a superb guitarist. you can see that he's enjoying himself when he's on stage and to play guitars to tunes like nashe diye band botlye takes some doing. he uses his fx box to full effect on stage and with dcs being a band that is so ridged in it sets, steve adds the spontaneous creative live value to it.
amit - drums (sukshinder shinda/revive) iv seen dcs dave & juggy, iv seen safri's happy, iv even seen chirag pechan's pali, but this kid rocks all of them in the current industry. technically the best drummer iv seen and to be able to play with shinda you have to be hot. plays every style of music from bhangra to jazz to rock.

kish is a good keyboard player too. there are a few talented boys now. i just wanted to put together my all time and current bands. every band needs the workhorse otherwise the entertainer/musician balance is uneven.
for every frantic kam, rag, ravi bal, jonny kalisi you need your davinder kalsi's, parv's, dipps bhamra's, amit's.

Anyone who has seen Swami live knows that Diamond (DJ Swami) is probably the greatest asian guitarist in the world. The combination of rock, bhangra, hiphop and reggae grooves that he displays in ONE full Swami live set is absolutely mind blowing.
Rocky Singh is a bad ass drummer too.

The Ultimate Band. Percussion - Sunil Kalyan ( The best Percussionist in UK, Pure Class ) Keys - Ravi Bal ( On keys he's something else. Any Top world vocalist will say the same, Producer him and shinda the highest paid in the game. Knows hes keys and music inside out ) Drums - Pali ( ex chirag pechan ) anybody who knows drumming in uk will know who this guy is. Bass - Angus Cambell ( ex satrang ) also undercover producer who doing mixes for dr zues. but zues wont be mentioning him. trust. Guitar - Frantic Kam - What nneds to be said about this guy. He the man. The man behind fake zues. Just these guys alone will blow any band apart. Most musicians will know this. they in a class of their own. they way beyond most. Infact they all dont even need to play to prove themselves. Its just hard facts. They are and will be the best the bhangra scene have ever had..
