Danny Boyle’s award-winning SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE will open in the UK on 9th January 2009, following its UK premiere on October 30 as the Closing Night film of The Times BFI London Film Festival. Directed by Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and written by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty) SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE won the Audience Award at last month’s Toronto Film Festival. British actor Dev Patel (from Channel 4’s Skins) plays Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's ‘‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ Arrested on suspicion of cheating, he tells the police the incredible story of his life on the streets, and of the girl he loved and lost. But what is a kid with no interest in money doing on the show? And how is it he knows all the answers? Read More HERE

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, UK BOX OFFICE # 1 LEADS THE FIELD WITH 11 BAFTA NOMINATIONS SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE has received 11 BAFTA nominations in the following categories: Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, Music, Production Design and Sound. Danny Boyle is nominated for Director, Dev Patel for Leading Actor and Freida Pinto receives a nomination as Supporting Actress. "I am absolutely overwhelmed and delighted to have been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor. To be nominated alongside Brad Pitt, Mickey Rourke, Frank Langella and Sean Penn is unbelievably exciting and such a huge honour. I am so excited that Slumdog Millionaire has received 11 nominations and just thrilled to be a part of this film's amazing journey. Thank you so much to BAFTA." Actor DEV PATEL "I keep asking myself over and over again if I am dreaming. 11 BAFTA NOMINATIONS! The British sure have a unique and beautiful way of showing us their love and appreciation. I am obviously more than thrilled to receive a nomination myself -albeit feeling a little unworthy to be put in the same category as Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz, Tilda Swinton and Marisa Tomei - actors who have inspired me to become an actor myself. Nonetheless I shall take this as the kindest compliment and I thank BAFTA deeply for this honour." Actress FREIDA PINTO "Every film maker knows that the most difficult audience to impress is the home audience. Like strict, but loving parents, they know us too well to be fooled by artifice, trickery or excuses and see straight to the truth. So to get a BAFTA nomination is a genuine honour and pleasure. I am delighted." Writer SIMON BEAUFOY SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is currently No. 1 in the UK Box Office having taken £2,920,000 in its first six days of release. The 11 BAFTA nominations for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE follow four prestigious Golden Globe wins for Best Picture in the Drama category, Best Director for Danny Boyle, Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy and Best Original Score in a Motion Picture for composer A. R. Rahman.

Slumdog Millionaire is a brilliant film, i thought it was extremley well made and the way the scenes shifted from the present day to the past were really good, The film had a great story, it was also funny and serious at times, so this is the type of film that can please anybody. I hope it wins many awards as they will be deserved, but there is alot of competition from other great films too.

i have no idea why them 2 are getting all the credit......the 2 kids that play as the 2 brothers should be getting ALL the credit, BEAutiful acting...good film, and TBH, i have no idea why its got as much credit as it has, they barely speak English in the whole film....
