I agree with you. Sikhism is about equality of men & women. The caste system is a load of krap!!

TEXT To be honest this shouldn't even be an issue in this day in age, that caste system is man made and was invented by the stupid JAT's in india. They wre land owners and used to treat normal people really bad. I mean this caste system still applies now, this is only becasue indians dont wanna let go, from there stupid backward traditional ways, am i right? People i know how hard it is out there in the big wide world, ive experianced rascism from my own friends, but until they know that the caste system is so f**king whack, they kinda come back dwn to earth. n e way i aint gonna work my self up over so much bull S#!t!! Peace out --XX--

a true sikh will see beyond caste. caste is a concept within the panjab. i am jatt myself yet this is only my roots, i do not and will not look down at other castes, we are all equal, regardless of caste/sex/race etc, this is what sikhi is about.

I agree with Guvy, WELL SAID There are still some Punjabi folk that still do it to this day, get this we went to visit some people and their Granny was bragging about how in the days and still to this day when she visits India how she makes the workers (lower caste) sit on the floor when they talk to her and here you young people think you equal you not she said.
I could believe it..... How stupid...... What a mind set

first of all id like to say that Jatt risky is one hell of a pr!*k.How old are you?Grow up and open your eyes we live here not back home and not in the dark ages but in the 21st century.Everyone is equal regardless of what caste ,background you come from you have the same rights.Just cus ur a diff caste dont mean ur not human.you dont have emotions, you dont know how to fight for what you believe in........discluding all other "jatts" except you.i think ur an idiot........what if one day you daughter grows up and marries sum1 "lower" then you what then?thats gona be a big slap in your face cus deep down you know she loves him but only you'll let your big ego and pig head get in the way...and don't go on asif "Jatts" are all that be afraid of god.....sometimes it seems as if you're tryiong to take wahegurus place...........start your own religion called the jatts.if thats the case don't you ever call yourself a sikh again.ever.you know why? Because waheguru laughs at stupid fools like you who don't and won't understand his teachings.........and as for you being the highest..........your "farmers" ppl who work on the land.it doesnt mean that every morsel of food that is in our plate comes from you.no.but comes from waheguru.your merely peasants...........how would you like it if the tables turned?we could consider you lower then anything.........but we have hearts and brains.which you don't..........why do apne stop sikhi from progressing?by putting up so many divides between eachother?Loook at others and take a few things in..........Ur here today.gone 2moro."ohte amla de hone ne bere, kise na teri jhat puchni"meaning when we're all judged when we die.no-ones goona ask you what caste are you we're all eqyual..you won't be treated more favourably just because your "higher"...........God bless.xx

as dipz pointed out there is culture n religion.
sikhi tells us that we r all equal n culture shows us the differences between caste.
i think ppl that say "ur sikh so as a sikh u can marry out of caste" well to those ppl, sikhi also doesnt forbid us marryin our of religion, so whats wrong gettin married to the kali down the road?
the point im tryin to prove is that there will always be an issue marryin out of caste.
so no i dont think caste system is wrong. until its an issue in society its an issue for us. if we try n run from it we will always be faced with problems.
amrita - im sorry but the language u used against jatts wasnt any better than what that jatt guy used. fire doesnt ride fire, y u fallin at his level for?
and also for u amrita, just to clarify, jatts r not farmers, they r landlords, ok!!! sorry but i didnt like what u said at all, obviously thats a clear sign that i believe in the caste system. n im sure similarly if i were to mock ur caste like that u would feel the same!
point proven i assume??
thanks...

LOOK the only people who dont believe in the caste system are people that are not JATT im sorry but its true,
if we start marrying into each others castes, we will lose our pride, and a few generations down the line wel start marryin hindus n gujis, wot next.... then wel start marryin whites etc..... then slowly sikhs will fade out n be gone.
IZ dat wot u want..... NO the caste system works..... respect the culture
Who the fcuk r we to abolish the caste system after our ancestors have tried so hard to keep it going for over 300 years shame on you AMRITA... you talk like a shoe maker or a woodworker am i right
im sory ur a low caste but live with it thats all u can do....... and dont diss JATTZ u know we top of the ladder

ouch amrita!!
lem jatt, i wont say i disagree with u, but probably dont fully agree either.
i think the caste system is part of our culture n it should b kept up. i guess the question was whether its right in sikhi. n i guess the answer is that it isnt right.
but yes like u said it is a cultural thing, so argueably got nothing to do with religion...
words u used for amrita were a bit harsh, but for the kinda words she used for jatts, think its right she got a taste of her own medicine. keep it real...

erm wel i fink alot of the younger generation of sikhs dnt reali understand what the caste system actauli means, i know i dnt. I fink its more part of tradition that we inherit from out parents and fair enuf it mite mean sumfin 2 them. But i dnt reali see y caste should be such an issure wen it come 2 marriage etc, afta al if we dnt understand what it reali means then isnt it lil silly to say ur not gna marry sum1 cz they r a different caste? its the 21st century, as time goes on thichange n some traditons die out. i myself dnt fink caste shud b a big issue between sikhs wen it comes 2 marriage etc.

i think the points that cheeky gal raised r pretty fair. it is tru in sayin that most youngsters dont know what a jatt, dhakhan or any1 for that matter are actually called what they r called. i do also think though, that the youngsters today, some of them, r more into the caste system then r parents r. the question u can ask is what is to blame for it?
n part of the answer i think r bhangra songs; where some of them have the word jatt in there somewhere. n they r ones that cause divide between communities.
relating it directly back to the question again, the caste system is not right in sikhi i think, n we all have strong proof to prove that. however, i do feel that for at least another generation the caste system will still be part of ppls life. but i think its important to know where the cuttin line actually is.
2 generations down the line lets say every1 marries out of caste, another generation ppl marry out of religion in the same race n the next generation think its ok to marry any1 at all. where is the actual cuttin point?
if this does happen, then lets b honest, arent our traditions, our heritage all gonna die? is that what we want....?

hey basicali kidz... u shudnt look at castes as in chumar r S#!t, but lik even jattz r highest n we say we is highest, but end of day we stil have a heart n dnt treat chooreh n thakarns bad its onli jatt hu say it, which perhaps shows dat thakarns etc dnt believe in it cos dey aint at top.. o w8 howeva dey stil dnt wana marry a choora.. with believin castes exist does not mean we dnt believe in equality.. its jus a form of identity.. we iz proud of.. ok.. ta-ta!! xx

be proud of what caste u r, nothing wrong with that.
but it is wrong to say that jatts r the highest. what the question is asking is whether the caste system is right in Sikhi, not the Panjabi culture.
so u sayin dhakans, churaa, chamars r lower is not a fair point, is it?
