look girls, im not the moderator or anything, so who am i to say anything.
my point is quite simple however, these topics like caste within sikhi are delicate issues and a lot of ppl r confused about them and want to know what other ppl think.
if they come to this site and see this topic, enter the thread and see a conversation takin place then what r they goin to learn and what not?
uve both got each other on msn, so y not chat there, if all u want is 1 lined chats.
like i said, im not the moderator, so u lot do what u want to do, but jus think of the others who may find this issue an interesting one or an extremely important one!

Like Bham da jatt said religion and caste are two different things.
For example its our culture for blokes to get drunk and do a few pangey afterwards, but religion says the opposite.
Coming from a jatt background no one blinks twice if you are sitting with your dad and crack open a bottle of bacardi with him-but would the religious minded agree with that-i think not!
Also listen to the women doing boliyan at weddings(man some are hardcore)there is no way a true sikh would participate in them, but its still its a part of our culture
The same way caste is definetly not in Sikhi but in culture it exsists.
Personally i dont think there is anything wrong in being proud of your caste watever it is
I can only speak on my behalf and im loud n proud to be a Jatt but that doent mean im putting others down.Iv got chummar friends who are proud of there casta and tell me they will only marry someone from their own background.
The people i dont understand are the ones that will go out and do everything under the sun and have never given a thought about religion before, but when it comes to marrying their boy/girlfriend who are of another caste all of a sudden turn to Sikhi and say its not in my religion that i cant get married to another caste even though the last time they went inside a Gurdwara was at the last wedding function!
At the end of the day its how you are bought up, some liberal parents dont mind who their kids marry, but today you can think that is cool, but when we end up losing our culture one day we will all regret it.

Why cant you guys understand that caste in Sikhi IS wrong, but in panjabi culture it exsists and probably always will.

Personally i think castes are wrong. Its just a false sense of belonging, so you could only stick around a certain group of people, and gain a false sense of pride. This is my personal take. No one should really be proud of being born into some country, religion, state, race, caste...etc. One of the major teachings is no one is born a sikh, christian, hindu, muslim, what ever... i mean before the Guru Granth, Bible, Quran, and Vedas...go back to the dawn of creation, (just to give a sense of shedding the material world) we are all God's kids.
On a lighter note: The funny thing is that people start philosophical question on a site called Punjab2000!!! I mean seriously if you have some internal struggles on hypocracy witnessed in the world, why go here, where no one (including me) has as much a clue on most of the subject. Thats why we have so many emotional posts, where people just leave themselves open to being shot down by one another, cause ur parents may have taught you differently.
