Statement from Birmingham Airport concerning Bilga Air
It comes as a great disappointment that Bilga Air has decided not to start operations from Birmingham to India following the recent announcement.
All passengers who have booked with Bilga Air will be given a full refund and should contact the operator directly.LOL we aint even started and we've cancelled all the flights , anyway the reason i created this thread is, if you dont already know you can no longer fly with any airline* to Amritsar Direct from London or Birmingham "Rajasansi Airport in this Sikh holy city has fallen on bad days and faces the threat of virtual closure with international and domestic airlines pulling out flights.Till recently, the airport was catering to nearly 100 flights per week"Now, however, Rajasansi Airport seems to have fallen on bad days with many airlines, including Singapore Airlines, announcing closure of operations from the airport due to an overall slump in the aviation sector, high landing costs and lack of adequate facilities here. This has been reflected in the the flights per week going down by 20 percent. A drastic fall in passenger traffic is expected from January next year if airlines close operationsso what do you guys think? personally i think this is awful news!! no more direct flights, i know for sure Jet Airways have stopped flying to Amritsar ( direct ).

All non-stop flights to Amritsar are landing at Delhi, and then being flown from Delhi to Amritsar. Turkistan is still OK.

Damn shame that I wanted to go to Punjab. The journey from Delhi is always horrendous.
10 hours in a car for a journey that should realistically take 3 hours at the maximum.

As far as I am aware all non-stop flights directly to Amritsar have been stopped, and are via Delhi, including Air India.
