Sangat Ji,

On the BBC's Asian Network during Sonia Deol's show 11th May between 9am - Midday a derogatory statement was made live on air about Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The statement made by one of the guests referred to :-
(a) 'Guru Nanak as a devil',
(b) 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib as empty' and many other derogatory statements.

This should NOT and will NOT be tolerated.

Please can you all officially complain in the strongest of terms using all the methods stated below.


How to complain

The following extract is from the BBC web-site, if you threaten them with legal action then the complaint is taken far more seriously.

"The BBC's Programme Complaints Unit deals with serious complaints (see Chapter 42). Before referring a member of the public to the PCU, the Unit should be contacted to establish whether the complaint is within its remit.

It is important to alert BBC lawyers, through Heads of Department or Commissioning Executives, to enquiries which threaten legal action."


Also the statements may be 'inciting religious hatred' as it directly makes slanderous/ blasphemous comments about sikhism. This is against program guidelines. She did not use the 30 second cut-off facility available to all BBC show presenters. Please take time and fill in all details thoroughly and correctly.
