Jay Sean performed live at the Hershey Centre on Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Mississauga, Ontario. The show also featured Canadian rapper Imaan Faith, Montreal R&B singer Prita Chhabra, choreographer/dancer Krystal Kiran Garib, and DJ Double Up. The tickets ranged from $55 CAD to $85 CAD for “VIP” floor seats (fold-up chairs on the floor) – wow, how much more “VIP” can you get? The “VIP” package also included a meet-and-greet session with Jay Sean, which to our disappointment was not even advertised online. The doors opened at 7:00PM and the show was scheduled to start at 8:00PM sharp. We arrived at 7:30PM and to our surprise, the venue was less than half full! The crowd consisted of mostly teenage brown girls – and some white girls as well. The concert started an hour later with an opening act by an Indian “comedian” (more like a Russell Peters wannabe). His jokes were so lame and stunk worse than a Brampton FOB.
Next up was Prita Chhabra. What can we say? Well, her back up dancers were amazing! But, we were hardly impressed with Prita’s performance. We still can’t understand how she made this far in the music industry with her irritating voice? After listening to her horrible voice, the “comedian” was back on stage to bore us with his lame jokes. At this point, we’re thinking “where the f*** is Jay Sean? It’s 9:00PM already!?”
They tried to keep us entertained with a live DJ spinning the best in Reggae, Hip-Hop & R&B. Honestly, we could have gone to a lounge or nightclub in downtown Toronto (ladies free before 11:00PM) to hear the same music!!! After another half an hour later, rappers Imaan Faith and Thug Life came on the stage and performed a mix of Middle Eastern and South Asian music.
**YAWWNNNN** We almost forgot we were at a Jay Sean concert! For a second, it seemed like we were at home watching BET.
By 10:00PM, we were extremely fed up with the lack of event organization (switching DJs, setting up, etc.). Finally after a LONG and excruciating two and a half hours, Jay Sean came on stage and the crowd went WILD! Jay Sean performed his hits from his new album titled All or Nothing, including Down, Do You Remember and Ride It. He also performed songs from his first album such as Eyes on You.
Just as we were anxiously waiting to hear more songs, he announced that he’ll be performing his last song for tonight. “THAT’S IT!!??” WHAT!!?? HE’S DONE!!?? HE PERFORMED FOR LITERALLY THIRTY MINUTES!!!! ONLY THIRTY MINUTES!!!!
Jay Sean’s concert did not even come close to meeting our very high expectations. He definitely gave us something to b**** about over dinner.
Next time we hear his song on the radio Do You Remember…The answer is YES Jay Sean, yes we definitely remember your 30 minute performance which was not worth our $121.75 CAD. If Jay Sean ever performs again in Toronto, we’ll save our time and money and listen to his CD at home. This was one of the WORST concerts e have ever been to!!!!!!!!!!
