Excuse me but how is that being old school. Its called being a SIKH!! Sikhism isnt like christianity which has guidelines. Sikhi has rules. ANYONE who either sleeps around or drinks aint worth my time when it comes to marriage. Be as western as you like but I'll say it straight, westerness and Sikhi cant go together, theyre opposites. Im not being old school, just being a Sikh. well i combine sikhi with my culture and traditions. I am traditional, and u can say that's old school. I don't gollow this politically correct equality game, where girls can drink just cos the guys do. lol thats just jokes to me.

lol...im worse than nocastesingh. As far as Im concerned if a girl drinks the word 'Kanjari' jus seems to flash in my head. Dont ask me why. Jus does. Might be something to do with me being a Sikh and the Sikh youth slowly forgetting who they are etc. But I'll leave that rant for another day. ;-) i have a similar stereotype whih links girls and drinking. Its not to do with sikhi, its more to do with our culture and being traditional. u know, girl drinking, u just feel a stereotype when u look at the environment she has to do the drinking in. By the way, I would never allow women to drink at family parties, that would just knock us tradtional folk the wrong way. But thats the thing. I get annoyed when i get called traditional or old. Cos thats not how it is. Its jus that Ive been brought up eastern, not western, if you get my meaning. Sometimes I think it mite be easier if I move to Punjab but then again from what I saw at my Pooah-ji's wedding things are getting just as bad there. Guess I was jus born in the wrong place and wrong era.

I get annoyed when i get called traditional or old. I get annoyed when people talk down to me and think I am beneath them, as well as sterotype me just because I like the odd sip of the liquor.

I think these r traditional values where women should be modest, u know where we see women as izzat of the family. I mean who cares what besharam people say, hang around the right crowd and sangat or people who got some sharam. What annoys me is so-called religious and amrit-dharis people that r losing these traditional values. I vitrually come to heads with these guys, i guess some of them have been away from punjab by a few more generations. There r mmany sikh extremists who wanna destroy our culture and traditions and in turn destroy our values. They don;t have these, but they wanna destroy ours as well, I have seen it on the net and sikh societies, really bad.
