You know something girls, what I am about to say is quite scary. Actually
the word "scary" is putting it mildly, lets us petrifying instead. Okay...let
me start again. Girls what I am about to say will petrify you!!! Yep, I am
happy with the way I have started off, it sounds much better.
Everyone has a fear of something, whether it's spiders, or closed spaces
and/or heights. But us girls have one fear that makes our hair go white at
just the mere thought of it. As anyone guessed what, this fear you should be.
You should have got what I am trying to say by now, as all of you are afraid
of it. I tell you what I'll just let you know what the fear is. It's the thought of
growing and turning into the Indian masi that you have always hated.
You know the type of masi I am talking about. The one who gossips about
every-one. The one who says she does not like "so and so," but whenever
she see's "so and so" she is incredibly warm and charming to the poor soul.
The one who goes back to your parents and lets them know you have a
boyfriend regardless of if you have one or not. The one who always looks
down at everything that every body does, but goes on to do those very same
things herself. I am sure you have got the picture and I am pretty sure that
your hair has gone white too, as the mere thought that this may be you one
day is...what was the word again...PETRIFYING!!!!!!!
It's quite funny actually as I see all these traits in people around me and
sometimes I hate to admit I am one of them to. Now before, all you girls out
there shake your head in disbelief and mutter to yourself "that is not me, no
way, no way, no way." Then my dear friends you are lying. Why??? Well let
me explain, how many of you have been to a gig, you know the gig of the
Asian variety? Quite a few of you I presume and there is nothing wrong
with that at all. But, how many of you have been to an Asian gig and seen
some other girls that have turned up that night too, looked at what they are
wearing and have said something along the lines of, "look at her!! What is
she wearing??!!?? As she no shame?? She may as well have come naked."
So how many of you out there have their hands up in the air -and are waving
them around like there just don't care (sorry had to add that bit in, couldn't
help it)-to say that these words or words along the lines of these words have
been uttered by you??? Now come one there has to be more than just the
few hands that I can see. I tell you if it makes it nay easier for you, my hand
is raised as I have said that loads of times. So you can admit it too. So you
see the "Indian Masi Syndrome" is upon you.
You may think "hey, what Indian Masi Syndrome," but who else would
comment on someone else's clothing with such disdain, just like those girls
above in the paragraph. Think about it, think about it, yep you got it an
Indian Masi.
But why stop here there are more of you out there. So we have covered the
"I have a problem with your clothing" symptom. Lets move on to another
symptom of this terrible, terrible disease.
How many of you out there have said something awful about someone and
then when you have seen them you have, behaved in such a warm and
caring way it's unbelievable. Now girls, don't back down, on this one
because you have all done it. I mean you all know what I am talking about.
You see someone who "does your head in" and to your close circle of
friends you have said that you pretty much don't like that person, only to
then see that person that "you don't like," and act as though butter would
not melt in your mouth. You all know you have done it. Okay maybe there
are one or even two of you out there who has never done anything else this.
I mean I don't want to generalise or anything. But for everyone one person
who has never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever acted like this there is, probably
about fifty people out there who have. Shocking??? Yes I know and once
again what other person do you know who behaves in the way described.
Yep, you are catching on an Indian Masi.
This is all very sca...no sorry petrifying I know, but it happens and why stop
here. Lets go onto symptom number three. How many of you make a point
of letting your parents or friends know that Gurdeep, Fatima or Sonia is
dating some guy and sometimes what you are thinking is just an assumption.
Do not put your hands on your mouth and say that you have never done
such a thing. Hey I have admitted to all the symptoms, so I think you should
too. Fair is fair as the saying goes. Now we all know that Indian Masi's do
this, they see a girl who is with some guy and she may not even be dating
the guy. But they make a point of telling the parents. We know this happens
amongst us too. You know what I mean. You go home and your Mum or Dad
say "how is Gurdeep, Fatima or Sonia," and you respond to Mummy Ji and
Daddy Ji by saying "yeah she's fine, by the way she is dating some guy
know." Yes you have all done it at one point in your life.
So there you have it. The "Indian Masi Syndrome" it creeps up you when
you least expect it. It takes over your mind, body and soul and the worse of
all you can't control it and you can't fight it. All you can do is become a part
of it. It's the worse thought ever, that you will become an INDIAN MASI.
However having said all that, you may not and if that is the case then please
disregard what I have just said. Just wipe the article out of your memory,
like you have never read it!!!!!!!!!
