;D
Hey what’s up, this is Babbersher and I’m gonna review PBN's album "Ready or Not". [I’m not a Dj, producer, or anything like that....just an avid bhangra listener, which is good enough ]
***Track 1 - Aaj Me Peeni
This is an ok track. It has the same feel as Gabroo Haan Da, and Nain Preeto De. On this track PBN seems to be formulaic and tries to keep it safe by takin No risks.
***Track 2 - Akhiya
After a couple listenings, this track is not that bad. The female rapper's lyrics are a bit weak. The MC guy is lame. The Singer has a tight voice... had he been the only one on the track, it would've been phat.
***Track 3 - Sohne Lagde
It's Surinder Shinda!...but not as his great self. Shinda has one of the most impactful (is this even a word?) voices in the industry, and PBN has managed to make it sound watered down. Creatively, Surinder Shinda, doesn't even sound like he's having fun with the track [if you want to know what im talking about, go and listen to PMC's Jindh Mahi or Mirza, and listen how his vocals vary and fluctuate... In the track "Sohne Lagde", it seems PBN did not let Shinda do anything but sing so you cannot differentiate from the first, middle, or last stanza] . And the fact that the song sounds like Tigerstyle's "Putt Jattan De Shaqueen" takes away from the track sounding good. Again, he's (PBN) playing it safe with a tune everyone has listened before*.
*** Track 4 - Balle Balle
The track is ok, nothing to go and gizz over. Again, PBN, is formulaic and playing it safe.
*This, playing it safe thing, is seen throughout his career. Nain Preeto De (a previous shinda song), Bindiya Chamke Gi (a filmi song), Jogi (it worked in one album, so he brings it back in 'Next episode'), Gal Bangayee (Brings it Back in more than one album), Heer (sounds exactly like PMC's Mirza), Playa (used the DDLJ tune)...etc.
*** Track 5 - Aaja Nachle
I like this track. Dippa is a phat singer, and the track is pretty good. Defintly for the fellow desi-headz
*** Track 6 - Kalja
Dippa is back on this track. It's ok. I may be pushing it on this, but i get a feeling that he is trying to produce a Zeus track. I am not really feelin this track, u may like it though...
*** Track 7 - Banere Utte
This is a pretty good track. I like the singer, and the production is pretty phat. The intro is pretty lame, though. The girl sounds hot, but she doesn't sound like she means what she is saying, and if she did, i don't think she would say what she says. [this is where i realize that I can't review worth crap....lol, sorry to put u guyz through this]
*** Track 8 - Din
I’m not feelin the track at all. I don't like it.
*** Track 9 - Oh Yeah
I thought this track was pretty crappy. You might as go listen to some quality English track, instead of this. It is a load of bull compared to mainstream stuff.
Two Thumbs Down
The Album itself is a let down. Seriously, producers like PBN, Tarli Digital etc. show that they have so much potential in their earlier albums....but they seem to degress with each new album. I hope these guys quit tryin to play it safe. It's the risk takers that make it big in the industry. Take a look at Truskool & the Specialist, Zeus, PMC, Bally Sagoo (practically invented UK bhangra), SukshinderShinda, Aman Hayer.... now these guys are quality.
