The way i see it is as follow.....
1) Bhangra has money. It's not bankrupt. There are more asians in the UK in the western hemisphere, so more albums are being sold. They are making more videos, more promotion.
2) Artists that are good, will make enuff money on the live scene. The crap artists will fizzle out. This is a good thing, otherwise acts like Jeeti, E=MC will stay forever.
3) Don't feel sorry for the artists, they get nuff benefits out of this. Not only do they get a little fame, but they get a video, and this means they get girls. Thats why most of them pay to make there own albums. You get girls!
4) There is some respect out there for bhangra artists. If an artist does produce an exceptional album, most people will go out and buy it.
5) Record labels would only rip the public off, if the public didn't have the mp3. Moviebox were trying to get away with releasing 3-4 track albums and charging full price! The sheer check, so who are they to argue!
6) I wudn't pay jack for a song. I get it free. But if it was easier then maybe. cos sometimes u gotta search around. But what wud stop say one person downloadin it, and giving the songs to his mates?

i think that mp3 downloading is the future. gurdeep samra has recently started selling his music online and i've heard through the grapevine that he's been successful. i think it will work, provided record labels don't go too crazy with the price. i own a popular bhangra website myself and am looking into selling my own remixes online
