Hollerations to everybody that braved the stormy weather and came out to DIPLO & TRIPLE DOUBLE'S
AEIOU 2 Release party Tuesday night in Philly. Can somebody say "Moog Pinata Busting Music"?
Only these cats can get away with what they do, and I was privileged to be involved with it. For more
info on this insanely good mix, go to www.hollertronix.com and check the store section. Also, big shouts
to my good brother DJ AYRES on his birthday. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with him
at our Wednesday party at Delancy Lounge - FREAK NASTY REDUX. Last night was out of control to
say the least. And for those of you who don't know Ayres, believe you me that he's one of the most thorough
individuals that I've run into in my life, and I'm glad to be a partner with him. You can go to his website:
www.djayres.com and see what he's all about. Definitely be on the lookout for our latest CD coming this
September entitled HIP HOUSE VOLUME 2: DUDES GONE WILD. But enough of that, let's cut to the
chase and get to this week's...

NOTES FROM THE TRENCHES
Unfortunately The Godfather of Baltimore Club music, DJ TECHNICS had to cancel out of the gig at
Eleven this week. Hopefully he will get a chance to reschedule so he can bless us with his banging
beats that burrow straight to your dome. For those of you who don't really know about Baltimore Club
music, it's not surprising. Every city has it's regional sound: Bass Music in Miami, Go-Go in Washington
DC, the sounds of Crunk & Bounce in the Southern and Midwest sections of the country, the G Funk
of Los Angeles versus the P Funk/Trunk Funk/Hyphy Sound of The Bay Area. These sounds reflect
the life and struggle of these regions, and none so much reflect the area of Baltimore than it's B-More
Club.
The sound of Baltimore is high powered intensity. Call and Response structured over "Sing-Sing" and
"Think". As a good friend of mine SCOTT SEWARD sees it, B-More Club walks the line between being
"The New Bob Dylan" and "The Sound Of War". In his piece entitled "Why Baltimore House Music
Is The New Dylan", he writes that "It juggles the desire for self-expression inherent in going public
with the just-as-strong desire to spit in your face. That the personal as political is wound tightly around
a sound that, though having obvious roots in the past, remains a monster wholly unto itself. Within that
sound resides the unspoken but palpable belief that there is redemption only through more music and
more nights (this is what Baltimore house music and Bob Dylan mean to me.)"
Scott's entire piece can be read at: www.cosmobaker.com/baltimore.html
There's something to be said about the energy of this music. So much of it has to do with the heartbeat
of the city itself. Peace to all my Baltimore peoples: Cullen Stalin, Dave Nada, Mills, Gabe, Roxy...
the whole gang. While there is much more to Baltimore than Crunk and Crabs. This sound has transcended over to become one of the most exciting party music that New York has seen in a while. It's only fitting that DJ LOW BUDGET, Philadelphia party rocker extraordanaire and one half of the HOLLERTRONIX crew has released his brand new mix, appropriately entitled "PAWRTY MUSIC". This is a 60+ minute high octane mix of some of the best B-More Club around, impeccably selected and mixed flawlessly by Mr. Budget himself. The mix will be available soon at www.turntablelab.com, or you can reach out to him directly at lowbudget@hollertronix.com and he will hook it up for you.
For more information on The Sound of Baltimore, you can check the following link:
www.baltimoreclubtracks.com/
Stay tuned! Next week's "NOTES FROM THE TRENCHES" will include features on LEIANA, CHUCK
TREECE, CHOPS, JOHN BOOK'S TRIBUTE TO "PAUL'S BOUTIQUE", AND THE KENSINGTON
WELFARE RIGHTS UNION. Stay up, pawrrty people!
