Album: Paisa
Artist: Manak-E
Label: Untouchables Records
If there is an artist who is enjoying a second lease of life in Bhangra Music it’s Manak-E. He has been around for some time and has been featured on some of the biggest Bhangra albums to date, Death Jam III springs to mind. But where some of the old skool singers have struggled or refused to adapt to today’s version of ‘Bhangra’, Manak-E has thrived in it. Today, he is a bigger name in the industry than he has ever been and credit must go to him , his record label and his music producers.
‘Paisa’ opens with the title track using a sample from Usher’s massive hit ‘Yeah’. The sample makes this track more appealing and it’s bound to get a reaction from the clubbers. The ‘Boliyan’ is another tune that will make a good impression in the clubs. It’s more of a medley than boliyan and features some of the biggest hits that Manak-E has to his name, namely ‘Hor Glassy’ and ‘Jee Karda’. I do like the production on this one. The track that has a lot of people talking is ‘Dhoor’. This features Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ and has that familiar upbeat, fast tempo that we have come to expect from this camp. ‘Bhangra’ and ‘Mohabatain’ are other tracks to look out for on this album.
Manak-E continues to build his reputation and remains a big draw in the clubs. It’s the perfect example of his singing experience and the youthful sounds of his music producers which makes this album appeal across the age ranges. However I expect the ‘Clubbers’ to be more satisfied with this one.
A well put together album for it’s market.
