After reading some very good messages on this forum about the new style of Uk bhangra
scene it occured to me that what we need is a new category in the awards ceremonies -
Best Mimer of the Year Award.
These people work so hard to perfect their miming that we really should show them credit yaar.
They have to spend hours on end standing in front of the mirror in their bedroom with the cd on fullblast in the background rehearsing. Many times their mum will be shouting from the bottom of the stairs, "O kutheyaa, vaaj thori kar te thale aa. Roti thandi hogayee."
Mimers have to practice how to make those faces when the singer starts hitting the high notes by scrunching the eyebrows together and looking up at the heavens.
Practicing how to really make it look as if the lyrics are coming straight from their dil - by placing one hand
on the heart and the other stretched out and the same time scrunching the face up - amazing!!
It's difficult to get support from the family. Mimers have to put up with situations like when relatives come round and ask them, "Putt, tu aj kal kee karda hunda yaa?". And before mimer can answer, daddyji decides to step in, "Is nukamme ne koi kam nee karna. Saara din gaane sunda renda yaa. Kenda main superstar banan aa yaa! huugh!!"
Just when mimer trys to explain how his skill is in real demand, one of his videos comes on zee music and everyone starts finding it hilarious and someone shouts out, "Ha Ha, Aygaya saada superstar, Ha Ha."
All this can be very upsetting for the mimer but his determination and ambition drive him on.
So are there any nominations???
Message to Tony-punjab2000 when are we going to have an interview with a mimer??
