URGENT
Bhangra fest 06 – change of venue and time Birmingham City Council and Artsfest have informed us of the venue and time change of Bhangrafest06: New Venue - Eastside Green, Opposite Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham. New Time – 7.30pm to 10.30pm with doors opening at 6.30pm The reason for the change is due to concerns regarding issues of capacity and site management, Artsfest and Birmingham City Council has felt that it would be better to change the venue and time. Councillor Ray Hassall, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture said: "We are hosting BhangraFest at Eastside Green, opposite Millenium Point as it has a substantially larger capacity than Centenary Square, and we are expecting large crowds for this event. This complements our plans for regenerating Eastside and ArtsFest has other arts activities taking place on Eastside Green over the weekend." At present all acts are still confirmed, and any further changes will be forwarded in due course. For further information please contact Ninder Johal 0870 609 4401

Great Idea but with ninder Johal picking the lineup its devalued the event.
Where are the Malkit Singhs, Apna Sangeets, Safri Boyz?
They are way bigger and better than Achanak.
Apne people will never progress in life because of internal coruption.
Not Impressed!

Look at it this way. It's 4 LIVE bands not PA's but live. It's on for 4 hours & it's free, so instead of moaning about it saying it's only 4 artistes. Well I'm sure they could get 20 or more on in that space of time doing PA's. Some people are never satisfied are they.
Whens the last time you seen 4 LIVE Bands on 1 night?? PA's yes, but not LIVE.
As for why certain bands are not in, maybe it's because the re booked already elsewhere or maybe have other commitments etc. These artiste are giving there time & performance for free to try & promote the live scene & show the non Asian people that Bhangra is not a fad,but a proper music genre, just like Rock, Hip Hop or R & B is. Instead of sitting back, and doing nothing about it, these artiste are giveing there time for a good cause & it's on the Hottest Street in Birmingham, not some hall or park or club, but outdoor in the heart of Birmingham city center & it's completly free of chargre
We need to show more love & support to these artiste & the Bhangra industry as a whole, & not just say "4 artistes is that it?".

Got a pm back from Tony today, when I asked about more info the event, he said that the only reason there's 4 bands playing is becuase there r 2 stages for the bands, if there was only 1 stage then there would be less bands.

I have & the guy has lost it, which is a big shame. He was a good singer, but now just mimes everything. I saw him at a wedding & he was mimeing, but he has his brother with him, who no offence to him, is just not that good. But I'm gonna b here, come on man it's a free event after all

Boss i will be there to support bhangra music.
But i just think that this is a chance to represent everything to with bhangra music and its politics which have taken over the lineup.
Personal opinion and i will admit it if im wrong.

Shame B21 wouldnt be able to do anything live.
The autotuner unit for Bally's vocals would have charged double for the gig!

Kiddan guys & gals,
I don't see wot people are complaining about! This seems like a great event to promote bhangra & to help bring back the live scene once again!
In my opinion DCS & Achanak are without doubt 2 of the best live bands in the industry aswell as Apna Sangeet & Malkit Singh. If the line up is getting reshuffled slightly maybe the line up should be:
Apna Sangeet Achanak DCS Malkit Singh
And before anyone disagrees, let me just say that I don't really give a crap wot u say, coz these 4 bands are all great live!
Neva seen Jassi Sidhu with a live band so that'll be interesting to see!
Anyways thats all I got to say!
Peace!
PS. Can you let us know if this event gonna be televised, Tony? Thanks!
