Bhangrafest?
I thought It said BhangraFEAST !
I was getting the impression that you were organising a huge 'meal' event, where everybody who was interested in bhangra came to Eat/Feast !

Press release
Bhangra opens Arts fest 06
8th September 06 1930 to 2300 hours.
Centenary Square Broad St Birmingham Birmingham has long been the centre of bhangra with all the leading artists and record companies based in Birmingham but recent years has seen the movement break global barriers. The success of bhangra music with its entrance into the commercial charts in the last few years has led to an explosion of bhangra music throughout the world. With countless bhangra products being sold and or licensed all the world, bhangra artists are much in demand on the live circuit. Bhangra fest 06 is the first time that Birmingham has staged a concert of this nature with two large dome stages and a large screen in the middle. Bhangra acts booked for the fest include the new and young and the widely travelled artists. Acts appearing on Bhangra fest 06 include: Alaap – an act that initiated the bhangra movement as we know it, have been performing for over 20 years with a particularly strong following in the Indian subcontinent. Achanak – are a much travelled bhangra band and have had their tracks licensed all over the world including the first band to appear in an interactive game – X box 360’s – Project Gotham City 3. They also became the first bhangra band to have their material licensed in China and Hong Kong. Apna Group – Like Alaap, this Birmingham based band have been performing for over 20 years. Known for their more traditional performances, Apna have carved out a niche in this market. Dalvinder Singh – represents the new breed of bhangra bands. The band includes two brothers who have come from a musical background where their father was a major force in the bhangra industry in the 70’s and 80’s. Bhangra fest have attracted a lot of support from the mainstream press including the BBC Asian Network who will be undertaking a live broadcast on radio and web. The concert will run from 1930 till 2300 hours on Broad St Birmingham.

Agreed, it may not be the "biggest Bhangrafest Ever"! But i think it's a great idea, in favour of keeping the Bhangra industry alive, particularly in the midlands. *It's also good for the promotion of bhangra within the music population...our type of music would be appreciated better after this event!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL @ B21 Who would have been on the lineup IF and i stress IF could sing live! I don't think Birmingham City Council could afford to hook up an Auto Tuner unit to the sound system. Apparently the Auto tuner jacked his price up 3 fold when he was approached with the prospect of working with Bally Jagpal again since he abused it last with his Ranja vocals! Instead the auto tuner unit will have the night off, drink beer, eat Council samose and chill out with the bands back stage as everyone play can sing live and wont be needed! Big Up The Auto Tuner! Keeping music LIVE!

URGENT
Bhangra fest 06 – change of venue and time Birmingham City Council and Artsfest have informed us of the venue and time change of Bhangrafest06: New Venue - Eastside Green, Opposite Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham. New Time – 7.30pm to 10.30pm with doors opening at 6.30pm The reason for the change is due to concerns regarding issues of capacity and site management, Artsfest and Birmingham City Council has felt that it would be better to change the venue and time. Councillor Ray Hassall, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture said: "We are hosting BhangraFest at Eastside Green, opposite Millenium Point as it has a substantially larger capacity than Centenary Square, and we are expecting large crowds for this event. This complements our plans for regenerating Eastside and ArtsFest has other arts activities taking place on Eastside Green over the weekend." At present all acts are still confirmed, and any further changes will be forwarded in due course. For further information please contact Ninder Johal 0870 609 4401

we shall excuse you because you are fresh and still got wet legs.
In the UK we never get major shows where all the acts perform LIVE with a LIVE BAND! Hence it is the biggest bhangrafest in the UK because it has got 4 quality acts performing live and more importantly its FREE!
