Stereo Nation Pictures Presents
Don't Stop Dreaming - the movie
(The Musical Crossover
Film of the year)
''Don't Stop Dreaming'' is the name of the new crossover film which is to be released on Friday 16th March 2007. The film is set in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, it is a representation of British culture, its incarnations and where dreams can take you
A number of record labels, multi-million selling artists and path breaking albums in the last three decades has seen Birmingham become the international Asian music capital of the world. The movie is set in the heart of the City; Don't Stop Dreaming is a heart warming comedy that charts the rise of a multi-cultural urban music band. It tells the story of a group of young friends who want to do more than just hang out. They want to leave their mark on the music scene. Continuing a hand-me-down career is boring and certainly not happening and therefore when three people turn their backs on the wishes of their parents…they front a new career. They form a multi-cultural-ethnic band.
The manager is a pretty female vocalist Gabby whose father was an Indian pop singer, now faded and retired as a clothing manufacturer and boutique owner. The band members include Channi an alcoholic singer, who sweeps the streets of the city at night. Jimmy a Jamaican who is obsessed with Elvis and leaves his job at his father's respectable sound equipment store to join the band as the lead guitarist. A Chinese post university drummer Bobby... he dresses like a girl…much to the disappointment of his mother! Other band members include two waitresses who leave their jobs to become backing singers in the band, a white guitar playing hippy named Shani, who is more in touch with Indian culture than anyone else, and a bank robber named Lucky, who is on the run from his former bosses after having a £4million robbery foiled... but where's the money disappeared to?
The group of misfits come together to create a musical vibe that fuses the east with the west. Desperate to escape their monotonous jobs, the dysfunctional would be pop starts go against convention and the wishes of their parents with the sole purpose of making it as major pop stars.
Pubs sign on this group to play at their venues and soon they enter a competition that will send the winners to America. Do they make it? Do they stick together? Do their parents permit this 'sultry' business? Will their music live on after them?
The film features big names like Bollywood royalty, Sunil Shetty, Rishi Kapoor, and UK's Michelle Collins (ex-Eastenders star), Richard Blackwood (Choice FM DJ & Actor), Sigga, Junior Simpson, Matt McCooey, Ronnie Jhuttie, Roberta Caocci, Stephanie Ainsworth and musical superstar Taz who presents his acting debut while co-producing the film. This multicultural cast of veterans and newcomers show how mixing it up is not only important in this day and age, but that a certain harmony is created when cultures clash, coincide and coexist!
Don't stop dreaming is directed Aditya Raj Kapoor (son of legendary Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali) directs this intriguing venture and produced by Munir Ahmad - Stereo Nation Pictures, Music is produced by Taz - Stereo Nation, while Debut scriptwriter, Asjad Nazir of Eastern Eye, writes this quirky script in his unique style alongside Aditya Raj Kapoor.
