Waqt, featuring an all-star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Shefali Shah, ably supported by Boman Irani and Rajpal Yadav. Furthermore, we are pleased to say that Waqt is one of the first films to be produced under the Eros Entertainment banner – a result of our conscious backward integration into film finance. Waqt is produced and directed by Vipul Shah, from a screenplay by Aatish Kapadia with music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Sameer on five tracks and Aatish Kapadia on one track.
In Waqt, Ishwar (Amitabh Bachchan) and Sumi (Shefali Shah) both adore their only son, Aditya (Akshay Kumar). But while Ishwar is totally blind to Adi’s faults, Sumi is well aware of their son’s shortcomings. Having come up the hard way, Ishwar feels his son deserves nothing but the best and Adi shamelessly take total advantage of his father’s love for him. As far as Ishwar is concerned Adi can do no wrong and even when he elopes with Pooja (Priyanka Chopra), the father forgives him readily. Adi on his part has only one obsession – to become a star and has no interest in joining his father’s successful toy business.
Everything is going smoothly for Adi - Pooja is pregnant, everybody is excited and he is busy training for his contest when suddenly catastrophe strikes. Adi is thrown out of his luxurious house and forced to stay in a shabby outhouse, thinking that his father must be playing some kind of a cruel joke. But his hurt turns fury when he realizes that Ishwar and Sumi have no intention of relenting. Adi is desperate - there is no food to eat, no electricity, bare walls and floors and a pregnant and hungry Pooja. It’s a race against time. For Adi, will his hatred for his father spur on him? For Ishwar, will his willpower overcome his hurdles? For Sumi, will her faith win in the long run? For Pooja, will her love conquer all odds?
The film is released in cinemas nationwide on April 22nd. More information on the film and Bollywood in general can be found on www.waqtthefilm.com
