Deewane Huye Paagal begins as a sweet romance between a cute boy-next-door Karan (Shahid Kapoor) and the ravishing Tanya (Rimii Sen). The latter is the cynosure of two evil eyes because she is in the know of certain secret information.
When Karan’s friend coaxes him to track Tanya after she migrates to Dubai, he enlists the aid of a deceptively handsome investigator, Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to chase her down. But Rocky ends up falling in love with her at first sight. Meanwhile, Tanya’s physically disabled friend, Sanju (Suniel Shetty) also has a soft corner for her and tries thwarting Rocky’s attempts at getting close to Tanya.
The plot thickens when yet another unexpected party falls in love with Tanya, thus setting up a hilarious love pentagon with a gaggle of con men and a lovelorn flame-wannabe following her around like panting puppies. The funny climax, shot against the picturesque sand dunes of Dubai, is a mix of madness and mayhem!
From the makers of Hera Pheri, Awara Paagal Deewana and Aan – Men At Work, this sweet and effective romantic comedy, with sprinkles of glamorous action, is for those who can embrace humor in all its perversity!
Lavishly shot in the US and Dubai and featuring a line-up of Bollywood’s most popular stars, a dog and a parrot play important roles in this non-stop laugh riot as well!

"DIL LUTEYA MAAR SUTEYA"
Sings three hit tracks for Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor in Deewane Huye Paagal
“The music is romantic, fun, trendy and commercial!”
Q. Those who’ve seen the promos of ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ are raving about the ‘Dil Luteya’ song on Akshay and Rimii?
I’ve sung not only ‘Dil Luteya’, which is getting rave reviews, but also ‘Meri Jaane Jigar’ and ‘Chakle Chakle’ on the album. ‘Meri Jaane Jigar’ is the best romantic song I have ever sung while ‘Chakle Chakle’ is a sure-shot chartbuster. In all the music of ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ is very romantic, fun, trendy, situational and commercial.
Q. How did you end up singing three of the tracks on the album?
I normally sing just one or two tracks in all my films but Firoz (Nadiadwala) liked the way I sang ‘Chakle Chakle’ and asked me to give the other tracks a shot as well. I did, and he really liked the feel and sound. He gave me the go-ahead immediately. I’ve sung two songs for Akshay (Kumar) and one for Shahid (Kapoor) and all three are finding enormous appreciation. I think my willingness to walk on the edge has paid off.
Q. Are there any other male singers on the album of ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’?
Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala. Sunidhi Chauhan is the female vocalist.
Q. Has 2005 been a good year for Anu Malik?
I’ve woken up and bounced back in a big way. I had ‘Waqt’, ‘No Entry’ and ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ – all blockbusters. Next year, I am looking forward to Raj Kanwar’s ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ (Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif), Indra Kumar’s ‘Pyaare Mohan’ (Vivek Oberoi-Fardeen Khan-Amrita Rao), Shirish Kunder’s ‘Jaaneman’ (Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan-Preity Zinta) and J.P.Dutta’s ‘Umrao Jaan’ (Abhishek Bachchan – Aishwarya Rai).
Q. Which is the best soundtrack you’ve heard in recent times?
A.R.Rahman’s ‘Swades’. That man is a true composer. I really respect him.
Q. What is your opinion of competition from the new breed comprising Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal-Shekhar, etc.?
Honestly, I haven’t heard their work properly so cannot comment but I am sure they are all doing good work. I’ve been around for long enough to fear competition. I came in when stalwarts like Laxmikant-Pyarelal and R.D.Burman were around. I’ve won the Filmfare, Screen and Zee Awards, and of course, the National Award!
