The Sikhi camp is described by the organisers as a "residential action packed 6 days aiming to create an environment that is unlike anything else out there."
The aim of Sikhi camp is to bring unity in our community by sharing time and experiences with young Sikhs from all over the UK. Every Sikh is proud of their heritage and wants to learn more but they resent being be preached at.
"We understand this, that's why an average day's activities at the camp is mixed between short talks and informal discussion groups in the morning, and then the afternoon is full of cool activities like abseiling, rifle shooting, assault courses, playing football, and of course: eating chips and beans."
The Organisers have summed up the camp being about:
· LEARNING: the basics about Sikhi through talks, group discussions, kirtan darbars with english katha (explanations) of Gurbani, workshops on modern day issues
· THE ATMOSPHERE: that is friendly, spiritually charged, chilled and non-judgemental
· HAVING FUN: Sikhi camp features top outdoor activities set in beautiful countryside
· BEING INSPIRED: by making friends with young Sikhs from all over the country
· YOU: you don't need to be religious to attend Sikhi camp, we do not require you to have a knowledge or practice of Sikhi, all we require is that you just be yourself!
SIKHI CAMP 2006: THE JOURNEY BIRTH LIFE DEATH
Life is a journey we all take, but do we really know where we started from, where we are going and how we will get there?! It can be hard to find our way through life's challenges but the light of the Guru can help us get over them to find real meaning in our lives. This year's camp will tackle the big questions in life and hopefully give you access to Gurus wisdom that will help you get through it with success!
2006 also marks the 400th Anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji's martyrdom to uphold the ideals of truth, freedom and justice, as well as a number of other historical anniversaries. As a tribute to our Guru's legacy, the camp will explore important parts of Sikh history and will give anyone who participates in the camp the chance to connect with your roots!
Oh yeah 2006 is our 10th Birthday!!! That makes us one of the most established camps in the UK and gives us the experience to make this summer special for you With the Gurus blessings, many thousands of Sikhs have come to Sikh camp and taken away something very special and as with any birthday, there will be cake, cake and more cake!
Sikhi camp cannot be missed!! Why don't you check out the pictures and videos from our last few camps at and see what you've already missed out on!!

UK (KP) - The British Organisation of Sikh Students is holding its annual summer Sikhi Camp from the 24th 29th July, 2006. Sikhi camp has been a constant source of inspiration for young Sikhs since it started 10 years ago. The camp provides a chance to meet young Sikhs from all over the UK and Europe and experience Sikhi. The organisers describe the camp as a residential action packed 6 days aiming to create an environment that is unlike anything else out there.
Sikhi Camp 2006 will be marking the 400th anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji's Shaheedi (martyrdom) to uphold the ideals of truth, freedom and justice, as well as a number of other historical milestones. The camp features excellent talks, small group discussions, kirtan darbars with English katha (explanations) of Gurbani, action packed outdoor activities all set out in the beautiful countryside.
Every Sikh is proud of their heritage and wants to learn more about the works and basic teachings of our great Gurus, however many young people dread being looked down upon or being preached at. Sikhi Camp like other Gurmat camps for students is far from it. One camper described, I was scared at first because I have never been to camp before and I cut my hair. However, staying a week at the camp changed my perspective and I am so glad that I went. People were so friendly; I learnt lots, made many friends and had an enjoyable week. I now understand and respect those who follow the Gurus Path and hope one day I walk in the same direction.
So who can attend Sikhi Camp? Its for anyone over 16 years old who is interested in learning the basics about Sikhi in a friendly, relaxed and non-judgemental environment. It doesn't matter how religious one is. It's all about how keen you are to learn. Everyone is Welcome! Its only £55 for 6 days in the British countryside with the benefit of loads of fun activities, inspirational talks and discussions. There is a £5 discount for applications received 30th May 2006.
One camp sewadar said, The six day Sikhi Camp is amazing if you really want to know what its like though, rather than just read about it on websites, or hear about it from your friends, go and find out for yourself, and experience for your self the Vibe at Sikhi Camp.
