Hey There,
I was just wondering about the fact that even a alcoholic druggie could get married infront of Guru Ji and nobody would say anything. Thats where I wonder if marriage in a gurudwara should be limited to people that dedicate themselves to Guru Ji. The Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Southall already practices this I think, please let me know of what you yourselves feel about this.

If the alcoholic druggie is a good person with morales and virtues..then I see no conflict of interest. Theres plenty of people who "follow" guru maharaj that commit sins..

^^took the words right out of my mouth....
the first post on this thread the poster only mentioned alcholics and ''druggies''.. so wot bout wen a rapist gets married.... at the end of the day each one of us commits a crime at sum point in a lives, no matter how big or small, so does that mean that we dont have the right to get married in a gurdwara?!?
No human being on this planet can stop ANY1 frm going to the gurdwara, whether it b 2 get married or to go and worship. so the ''The Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Southall'' should realy think bout their aim in life... if they are stopping ppl frm going to the gurdwara 2 get married or to worship then they are commiting a crime in itself.... n im sure God will punish them necessarily. who r they to stop ANY1 cuming to the gurdwara... NO1!!!!
anyway i can sit here all day arguing this case but iv got go hospital so il look 4wrd to reading the rest of ur views on this...

I agree with everyone on this! A Gurdwara is the house of God! Everyone is welcome to the house of God & is allowed to have Langar (free i am so stupid that i keep posting this) .
I can understand wher ethe Singh Sabha Gurdwara are tryinf to come from, but it's out of order. Like Juesu Christ said "let those of you who are without sin throw the first stone" (I know it might not be the best example to use, but it the best I can think of)

I second Bunny and Kamlee's views, I am sure there is no one perfect sikh/person in this world. God should be our only judge, so all those wishing to get married in the gurudwara should be allowed to do so irrespective of any circumstance of period of instability in their life.

I dont think ppl should be refused the right to be married in a gurudwara, but i do believe ppl should show proper respect for the Guru Granth Sahib. They should see get married at a Gurudwara as just part of the wedding before goin to get smashed at the party. I think that people who want marry in a Gurudwara should their to stick to the basic good values of Sikhism.

If a person does not have decency enough to be sober in front of his guru then he does not need to get married anywhere.

lol u could go so extrema and say, no hair cut in front of guru. although people do seem to grow darhi and wear opugh just for the monring to get married. But Guru Granth Sahib isn't just Guru of khalsa but Guru of whole sikh panthm so for every single sikh!!!

Found on a blog ; Tuesday, 4 December 2007 Some women have lost the plot?
I am not a women basher but this article is aimed at our women because they are most guilty of this offence. People go to the Gurdwara to get peace of mind from the hectic world we live in. Everyday we see women on the streets that have no self-respect. Their exposed dress sense sends negative thoughts to a mans mind. The last place I expect to see tarts is in the Gurdwara, but our girls forget that they our going to Guru Ji's house and dress as if they were going clubbing to pull (They are dressed to entice). The dress sense is so disgusting it’s like they are dressed to go and work in a brothel. They show-off all their assets as if they are competing for a brothel customer to pick them. Sri Guru granth sahib ji is our living Guru, but obviously this doesn’t hit the mind of most girls who present themselves in front of Guru ji dressed as slag’s. They walk in with their mums and dads; I wonder why the parents don’t tell them off. Because I wouldn’t let my daughter into the car if she was dressed like a tart. You all know the type of women I am talking about; I think they should not be allowed to enter the Gurdwara until they go home and change. Would Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji have allowed a woman with no shame, self respect and immodest behaviour (exposed dress sense) into the sangat? I can’t picture that, where has the honour of our women gone? It’s a disgrace! A modest dress code should be applied when going to the Gurdwara. It's common sense and respectful to do so. Or do we have to get Guards who tell people to go home and change at the gates of a Gurdwara? This goes out to all the women that are guilty of this offence, FIX UP
I think if someone attends the Gurdwara dressed inappropriately, they should be barred entry until they reform their unacceptable dress code. If clubs can do it, why cant the house of Guru Ji. Guru Ji is the king of kings and we should dress in a sensible manner when we present ourselves in the court of Guru Ji. Girls who are guilty of this don’t get angry and all stubborn. Learn and improve, the Gurdwara is not a place to send out lustful vibes!
I have seen women with all the above dress senses in Gurdwaras, look at how much curves and flesh is shown. I know people are getting vexed that how can they put pictures like this up. But when you see women dressed like this in the Gurdwara, why don't you get vexed and tell them. I think it would be better if another woman would go and speak to women that are dressed outrageously. We need to educate people!
Come on people lets have your views and experiences of the above issue

Agreed - women have less dignity and self respect nowadays. What ive noticed is that women seem to do this sort of stuff for the attention of the opposite sex, and possibly more and more women are going down this path because men seem to be more interested in these sorts of girls?
Everything’s going downhill, its not even normal nowadays to not have a bf or gf…our generation don’t even respect those people that are saving themselves for their partner. Everything seems to be about being in relationships, pimping so n so and hence women are becoming like this. Men are harsh aswell, most easily label women into categories...
On a more personal note I don’t get along with the majority of asian girls, they tend to be more bit*hy and judgemental ooo and most cant take a joke.
Well the women that parade around in tiny winy clothes can do as they please. The shallow men that promote crap like that can do as they please aswell. We should stop concentrating on the crappy stuff in life and jus live a decent life and be respectful to ourselves and others.
oooo and wot the hell is up with every asian girl looking the same, its soooo scary..
we need more individuals, no crowd followers...

I agree with you Bunny, I know I have not so much broken the law, well only a few times, minor things, but I commit sins, I feel bad when I walked in to the gurdwara though! I go every Sunday and I tie my hair fully back and never have my cleavage out like some slag’s! I don't go to impress, I go to pray. But if they gurdwara refused to let anyone in who has committed a sin then most be people who be refused, my whole family would be! rickyduggal got it on the head with this comment, big up! ;D
