Ik oankar sat gur prasad||
Have you ever wondered what Dhan Dhan SatGuru Nanak Ji was experiencing
when God's words came through him at this time :
'sabh meh jot jot ha soe
tis dai chanan sabh meh chanan hoe'
Amongst all is the Light-
You are that Light.
By this Illumination,
that Light is radiant within all. (Evening Prayer, Kirtan Sohila,
SGGS Ji 13)
I have compiled together experiences people have had soon after they
begin meditation (regardless of whether they have been initated into
Sikh Faith or not). What you will see is that even though most people
are still absorbed in their dark selfish side, that once they make a
commitmment to God and start meditating, God gives them a glimpse of
His Divine Light. The light is the part of God within each of us.
Like a diamond covered with mud of our worldy mind. The Guru takes us
from our darkside to the light that was always sitting their keeping us
alive - the Jyot.
The next thing is that many people do not experience anything again for
a long time even though they may have got initiated and follow a
disciplined life. The reason is that God shows us a glimpse of
Himself as the Divine light and all encompassing love at the very
beginning so that we may know tht HE does exist and that is what we
should now dedicate ourselves towards. Then after that follows the
long struggle to purify our actions and mind through seva and simran
and Guru's blessings (Gurprasad). It is because even though we are
totally absorbed in our worldy selfish mind, God shows us a glimpse and
is saying now spend the rest of your life working towards this - the
reason you were given a human body.
thankyou for sharing your experiences.
At the end is an article about how to meditate for those of you who are
inspired enough to start.
May satguru ji bless you all with love and blessings
