Press Release - New Joint Initiative Results In Three Arrests And Fast Track Prosecutions Over the weekend - Saturday and Sunday 23/24 October, BPI Investigators working with their colleagues from FACT and with Metropolitan Police and Trading Standards Officers from Ealing mounted a series of raids on stalls in Southall Broadway, West London . Three males were arrested during the operation and over 4,000 counterfeit Bollywood DVDs and CDs were seized. In a new initiative the men arrested have already been charged with criminal offences under the 1994 Trademarks Act and have been questioned and bailed to appear at Ealing Magistrates Court later this week. DM Director of Anti Piracy at the BPI stated , " Working together in a multi agency partnership has proved beneficial to all parties and now that the authorities have agreed to introduce fast track prosecutions, in this area of London, will undoubtedly have a deterrent effect on the many illegal dealers plying their trade in the Southall Broadway. My thanks go to the professional way in which the various agencies have succeeded in completing this operation to reduce the availability of pirated product on the streets.
