The IPL Starting next month has been moved to a new venue. SOUTH AFRICA.. and its gonna start on 18th of aprill .
so i guess the charm i not gonnna be the same. In india , every game used to have massive crowd showing up. but it wont be the case in SA i think.. And alot of bollywood celebrities used to be there. !.
I hope Kings Punjab X! wins this time.

wrong section...jus kiddin....i love my cricket so great thread
IPL is just a tournament built for money n fame. Celebrities that turn up are a joke...how is shahrukh khan relevant to the players that participate n the fans that watch around the world? the BCCI is just taking over the cricketing world...everything they say goes...its similar to how football used to have the big 12 european teams that decided everything from transfers to legalities (until recently Chelsea werent part of this)...
The ICC doesnt have the control it used to....it seems like India are trying to over shadow the World 20/20 and ICC Trophies with their own domestic league. I am glad its not being held in the UK...because i could just see empty stadiums with the early starts n kids still at school..and the world cup would have no interest with 60 odd games being played before hand.
South Africa is a perfect location for an event like this....you want proof? World Cup 2003 - packed stadiums/great atmosphere....20/20 World Cup 2007 - massive crowds/great atmosphere..so the reception will be as good as india.
The main thing that p!ssed me off last time about the IPL was that they gave the uk tv rights to Setanta which is f*cked up. Anyway i have my tickets to the 20/20 world cup matches....n as usual everytime Pakistan tour...its me n ma mates making the most noise in our stands! Drowned out england fans in trent bridge/lords/edgbaston (for many tours!), indian fans in the icc trophy at edgbaston (what a match), aussies (trent bridge tri-series when waqar tour australia apart n when gilchrist used to be a manic opener)....the good ol' days!
Nowadays cricket no longer has that same interest...too many matches perhaps? too many cancelled tours? n especially in pakistani cricket too much politics and dodgy cricketers with their hands in bags of cocaine....At least australia lost momentum this year against India and South Africa (but winnin 2-1 in the recent test series shows you can never doubt them)..the playing field is leveling out....many teams have lost their legends like australia/england n pakistan...india/windies will be the next to lose theirs with chanderpaul and tendulkar nearing the end of their careers
cant wait for this summers cricket to return!?!?

Good post^^
I missed it last year because setanta got the rights and not sky sports, I got a dodgy box this year so I can watch it lol. The major problem I have with it is that it lacks soul and passion, you got a bunch of Aussies and west Indians playing for Punjab, you got a Punjabi (harbhajan singh) playing for mumbai etc, alot of people are in it for the money, doesn't matter who wins and looses, its a good event and will maybe grow and become something massive but I think it would be better to have a competition where English, Indian, Aussie, south African etc club/provincial teams have a competition, Punjab vs surrey etc, at least there you will have players playing for their local/national club sides which will bring out the passion and national pride, because I don't believe that Shaun marsh for example gives a toss about Punjab or that Kevin Pieterson cares about Bangalore, which in turn puts me off.
Cricket generally is on a high, India are probably the best team on the planet, west indies are gritty now, etc, the 20/20 tournaments are massive etc, though 50 over cricket sucks.
Hold it in south africa, the 20/20 tournament there was wicked, the crowds were great and there was a real atmosphere in the grounds but this years IPL has got shambles written all over it tbh.
BCCI run cricket tbh, thats why England got gay with Alan Stanford. Its only fair as the indians generate the most money.

Last year IPL was gr8.. V all had a gr8 time. Surprising to c most of the underdog teams were doing gud.. Most powerfull team was DECCAN CHARGERS... it had some of the biggest names in cricket .. gilchrist, gibbs, laxman, symonds, vaas. but it flopped big time then. Knight Riders wre looking strong, they flopped too.
And who cud have guessed abt rajasthan winning the title.. Punjab had its luck but cudnt go that far.
Lets hope v get the same entertainment this time 2

I think it would be better to have a competition where English, Indian, Aussie, south African etc club/provincial teams have a competition, Punjab vs surrey etc, at least there you will have players playing for their local/national club sides which will bring out the passion and national pride something like this did happen in 2006/2007..in leicestershire (Woop Woop!)...the winners of england's 20/20, sri lanka's 20/20 and Pakistan 20/20 played alongside a masters side featuring people like Chris Gayle.....the pakistani team won...but i didnt no who to support cus it was faisalabad (my parents home city!) v leicestershire (my city!)...in the end it was faisalabad dat won got to meet all the young players....their captain was a teenager...the wicketkeeper is one of the best in pakistan (salman ahmed) the only reason he isnt in their international team is cus kamran akmal licks a$$ of the cricket board. Arry...Deccan flopped big time man! they had gibbs, gilchrist, symonds n afridi....bloody that team would make me cry if i had to bowl to them!?!?...n remember one team had dravid n chanderpaul n kallis i fink...they play slow in test matches n odi 50 over matches n some idiot put them all together in 20/20 haha! it should be good with the english players there..i wud like to see the asians that have gon like bopara, shah, mascarenhas (i fink they all got selected) to succeed!
