You all know I am an Apna Sangeet fan so tickets for this gig were bought months ago.
Seeing them play together for the first time since 1995 was just OMG with a show to match everyone's expectations. There to support Bridge of Love to make shelters for kinds in Shi Lanka so.
Your host was Amerjit Sidhu who was alright - not too keen on when he started dropping random bollywood karaoke's but it didnt kill anyone either.
First act were like some local kids doing a Jacko routine - decent effort
Amerjit Sidhu singing - Covers Ishq by Amrinder Gill
Shaan Mutiaara Di - These chicks are good at their thing. Great giddha set (brown hair girl was 'very attractive')
Amerjit Sidhu singing - he's doing it again with some Bollywood track where you go Hai Hai, tu naa kar and get the band on!
Shan Mutiaara Di - do another set when I thought they were done the first time. Get to see brown hair chic again
Dhol Blasters - Standard dhol intro, nothing else to add
Apna Sangeet - and they finally come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Band

The originals came on stage waring full on bling bling tops. I was geared up for them coming on stage with traditional Bhangra outfits on but it was like an odd retro surprise. Everyone of them looked right on stage with each other, didnt expect Amerjit, Niku and Dipps Bhamrah on stage with them on a musical tip. Im guessing they were there as back up cos the originals haven't played with each other for time??
G.Mall had this weird Jags Klimax hair style going on and had been wearing a Kung-Fu outfit all evening but was hypa as usual all night!
Tracks they played on the night included Nach Piya Mutiara - The only way to open the show with their first track from their first albumThen we had tracks like Tandrusti, Dagga Maar Dholia, Bhangre Da Raja, Soho Road Ute, Mera Yaar Vajave Dhol, 2 sets of Boliyan, Apna Sangeet, Bhamrah did his Makhna track and Gill did Gurdas Maan covers of Kamlee Yaar Di and Challa. If I am gonna be critical there were some off timings on stage, some odd forgetting bits on stage but I'll forgive them that cos they were that amazing other wise.
The crowd were on a level and dancing away like mad. We were all at it listening to the old tunes and singing away. Not sure about their cover versions they did though. Bhamrah's Makhna was ok, Gill did Kamlee and Challa and they almost emptied the floor (he did the the Pure Magic version) Would rather they did tracks like Bhangra Queen, Akhia Laake, Too Nach but that?s a fan being greedy.
Show ended on Apna doing Roj Roj with Gill and Bhamrah being shoulder surfed away from stage with 2 verses to go!! Was too sick cos I got my picture taken with them like that
All 9 posed for pictures, Saqi Roadshow took over and thats your night. Before Saqi, Shin from DCS came up on stage and said he was blown away about how the night went. He was dancing away with his family all night to Apna Sangeet and said that he loved this band and fingers crossed they stay together (me an you both Shin)
The gig was everything I wanted and I still want more. My all time favourite band on stage after years and I got to sing dance and watch they smash it up! They made over £11000 on the night and thats wicked.
No lateness, no heroes, no fights, big family atmosphere, great live music and money made for charity!
Turdman is a happy man
