Not good - but seeing this can put some people off actually eating meat ! it did me ! also this was a very old tradition from different cultures that seems to be still carried out by the uneducated nihang singhs but the pressure is on for them to stop as there is no need for this in Sikhism see more discussion on this here

its called jhatka
all meat consumed in sikhiism is supposed to be killed thru this method as it is considered the most HUMANE way of killing an animal.
notice, the goat, has no idea it is about to die. the death blow comes at the neck, and the head is severed isntantaneously to PREVENT PAIN.
This is the method prescribed by guru gobind singh ji (and as I mentioned above, for good logical humane reasons), not "some old cultural thing".
Punjabi culture did not have a concept of jhatka, which literally means suddent jolt, before its introduction by sikh gurus. In sikhi, vegetarianism is not considered a spiritually higher way of life then being non vegetarian. Diet is considered irrelevent to spirituality.
To those of you shocked by this, im glad the Punjabi virsa is wearing off a little. ;D

HOLD UP!!! Is this for real, at Hazur Sahib - the site where Dasme Paatsha's cremation was carried out??? Hazur Sahib is one of the sacred Takhts, how can this happen there??? Someone please explain this, forgive my ignorance but surely Sikhi does not allow for us to eat meat does it let alone kill an animal..?? And then when the blood is wiped on the swords people are actually saying Waheguru, am I missing something? ??

B asically, the modern singhs in punjab from british times have forgotten their tradiitions due to the singh sabha movement.
the nihangs still carry out the warrior traditions of the khalsa army, and still keep the khalsa army running. Those singhs who are against chatka and other nihang traditions, are basically faruds and part of the british created singh sabha. Ignorance!
