A Sikh man, Baldev Singh Sidhu, has been jailed for eight months for perjury; he is the father of BBC Asian Network presenter, Sonia Deol's
Recently Deol cam under fire for the documentary aired about 1984 A Sikh Story, but now her father is in the headlines due to an exclusive exposé by the News of the World

Sidhu , 62, is now locked up, as he was court the interpreter in the Cllr Suresh Kumar case of ‘doggy’ planning hearing
Singh was sentenced for eight months for perjury, causing the first tail of Kumar's to collapse when he made a false translation of the crook's Punjabi conversations in the News of the Worlds secret tapes.
Mr Kumar was caught on video tape red-handed as he offered to influence a planning decision in the favour of two developers, during an undercover surveillance sting organised by a Sunday newspaper.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and banned from holding any public office for five years.
A Redbridge Council spokesperson said: "The London Borough of Redbridge notes the guilty verdict in the trial of former Redbridge councillor, Suresh Kumar, on a charge related to corruption and planning.
“Mr Kumar ceased to be a councillor in 2006 and we have no reason to believe that he improperly influenced the outcome of any planning decision.
“The importance of honesty and trust in council decision-making is emphasised to all members of the council when they are first elected, and this is clearly stated in the members' code of conduct. “Compulsory training has been implemented for members involved in considering planning and licensing applications to ensure they are fully aware of their legal responsibilities.”
Last night a police spokesman said: "We are extremely grateful to the News of the World for bringing this matter to light and providing us with essential evidence.
"Kumar was involved in serious corruption and would not have not been brought to justice if it were not for your work."
To trap him, our man Mazher - who has famously posed as a fake sheikh to dupe many of his targets - pretended to be a business partner of two property developers facing illegal bribe demands.
