Dear Colleague Due to huge demand and a successful campaign facilitated by the Panjabi/Sikh media at long last Sikh Council UK is being developed. A draft version of a constitution has been prepared for consultation. The feedback on this so far has been very positive. As you can appreciate this is a historic development and perhaps one of the most important ones for 25 years. A platform is being created whereby the Sikh Community will be able to develop and pursue a common agenda for the well being of the Khalsa Panth. A consultation meeting will be taking place at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, Sedgley St, Wolverhampton , WV2 3AJ, on Saturday 20th August 2010 at 3.00pm. Further meetings are due to take place in the North and South regions of the country. The Sikh Council UK will consist of paid staff, a formal structure and an infrastructure to respond to the many challenges faced by the Sikh Community. Their role will include proactively pursuing a developmental agenda for the future. Attachments to this press release include: Draft Constitution, Preamble, Structure of SCUK and Specification of Jathedars. All documents are open to consultation therefore we welcome comments and suggestions via email or website. Downloadable Information on: www.sikhcounciluk.orgEmail: info@sikhcounciluk.org More here
