Face to Face with Amitabh Bachchan
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is proud to announce that the waxwork model of Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be a part of Cinema India: The Art of Bollywood on display from Thursday 8th April 2004. The special model is being exhibited outside of its’ Tussauds home for the first time ever, and this is an exclusive opportunity for those outside of London to see it.
Madame Tussauds created the waxwork of the actor voted by BBC News Online's readers as ‘the greatest star of stage and screen’. Amitabh Bachchan started acting more than 30 years ago, and is the biggest film star India has ever seen. A legend of the most prolific film industry in the world, and a phenomenon worldwide - he has appeared in more than a hundred movies.
Cinema India features works from pre-independent India to present day, bringing together remarkable examples of Art created for film promotion, and the phenomenon popularly referred to as ‘Bollywood’. The show is a celebration of Indian cinema, exploring its various manifestations and evolution through the years.
There are many events and activities accompanying the exhibition including bollywood dance workshops, music and yoga, textile & jewellery making sessions, dance productions and a Bollywood singles night!!

Hoarding Painters: In Session
Balkrishna Art are one of the pioneers of film art; and have been specially commissioned to produce two works of art on site at BM&AG. This is a rare opportunity to see them practise their fascinating technique first-hand, and is a chance to speak to these unique artists from Mumbai.

Yoga - ‘Free Your Mind’ with Yogiraj Arjuna
