This girl is propa turntablist!
I saw her perform at the bbc asian network london gig, she's amazing.DJ Kayper is without a doubt one of the most talented DJs in the urban music scene and has taken the club scene by storm over the past few years. Influenced by the art of turntablism, she developed her own unique style, blending new and old skool Hip-Hop with R&B, plus a little Reggae/Dancehall, 80's Soul and Bhangra for added flavour.
Kayper began playing in bars and clubs around South London in 1998 at the age of 15. She has since brought her distinctive style to crowds across the capital and the UK and more recently Kayper has showcased her talents across the globe playing regularly in countries such as Switzerland, Greece, Ibiza, Mauritius, Dubai and Austria.
Kayper first took to the decks at the tender age of 12 and was heavily influenced by the likes of Jazzy Jeff and A-track.
2003 saw Kayper gain national recognition by becoming the first ever female to win the Vestax Juice DJ competition. Not long after Kayper was invited to play alongside DJ 279, DJ Skully and DJ Pogo who were previously responsible for hosting London's only Friday night Hip Hop event 'The Get Down' at Bar Rumba. She is also apart of an all female DJ crew called The Urban Deck Divas along side some of the UK's leading female DJs.
Kayper hosts her own Hip Hop and R&B night called Ebonics at the Fez Club every Tuesday in the heart of Cambridge. Over the past two years Ebonics has become one of the biggest club nights in town and has played host to the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, Killa Kela, Scratch Perverts and Mr. Thing. As well as performing alongside some of the worlds best DJs, Kayper has supported a number of Hip Hop's most influential artists in concert including Pete Rock, Pharaoh Monch, Ghostface, Guru and Arrested Development.
Last summer Kayper toured around the UK alongside MOBO award winner, Shortee Blitz. As a part of the 2005 Homegrown Weekend in the UK, Kayper was asked to perform a showcase at the BBC Asian Network's Desi Divas event alongside MC Harkaur.
This year Kayper will be touring around India as MC Harkaur's Official Tour DJ for the Glassy Promotional Tour.
