Th Fortune club is one of those plays that you talk about, hear about, read about and if you are me, you actually go and see what its about ;D……this is the official Punjab2000 breakdown Its New Years Eve in a rundown East End London pub, and a group of friends, Gilly, Chris, Mark, Tink, Priya and her sister Renu gather to celebrate in style. Along comes old school friend Simmy who handles the bank accounts of the Rich and Famous and the story begins……… through an array of wild ideas and crazy-ness as the evening gathers momentum, a plan is hatched to escape the daily grind and live the dreams of the ‘rich and famous’. The persona, delivery and performance of each of the characters is brilliant as the whole story from beginning to end keeps you ‘locked’ in to see whether they succeed? Each of the roles played by the actors gives the audience a clear understanding of their individual thoughts and processes through their mannerisms and interaction with one another as well as with themselves. The use of tracks including Kami-K’s (Boliyan) and UK Apache during scenes illustrated the feelings and emotions that the characters are experiencing on their journey The Fortune Club is a fantastic insight in the world of ‘fraud’ and how greed can fault even the stongest of people. I would give this a Punjab2000: 9 out of 10 Peace, Baja ;D You can catch ‘The Fortune Club’ at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre from 7-23 April at 7.30pm (Matinees 2.30pm and 4.00pm)
