lol well if i was making gfs, i wouldn;t care about caste either, but when it comes to marriage its different. Alot of guys just make gfs for fun, so caste has no significance. Like I said, I don't see making gfs as the level of behaviour of a conservative jatt family, but is ok for liberal families. Jatt families obsevr izzat and annakha as being important, so dating is not something that fits in with that. Similarly, if someone tries to look at our daughters and sisters in this way, or wants to take them as partner without marrying, then we don't look at caste when breaking the legs of the accused man, no need to discriminate, treat them equally as I say, even if bloke is jatt I'd still beat him up eqaully doing sherna of pehn or daughter, even if she's not my real sister and is like a sister to me. Of course in pinds they wll even kill men like this, even Mirza wasn't safe from the wrath of Sahiba's brothers lol So its mpt just aboout caste, even same caste is not ok, beacue self-respect is more important.

Hahaha I don’t believe in casts etc I was just being spiteful to that girl because she was getting personal. I used to go out with a “Jatt” once....and....he was a bit disrespectful towards me because I went out with a non-Jatt, yet does he know what his sister gets up to with Paki’s...maybe some people should look closer to home. Moral to my story is...what Kamlee said.

yes i know all about izaat its sumthing my father never lets me forget. i no izaat is important, but how is loving someone no mater wat there caste going to ruin ur izaat. i ain't talking about loving someone, i am talking about this bf-gf turna firna dating stuff, and also we have this thing called marriage that we use for loving and partnerships ;D like i said jatt families r conservative and annakhi. If I really honestly loved a girl, I would never bring her down to the level of being my girlfriend, and would try utmost to marry her when I can. I do not wish to be known as anyone's boyfriend, I think its an absolute joke, and this exes business is utter rubbish. Traditional jatt families associate dating habits with the poor and backwards people that lived in the pinds in the broken shanty houses, maybe living next to the gulli. We don't need to bring ourselves down to this behaviour, if we did we woudln;t need to call ouselves jatts anymore because we clearly wouldn't be behaving like them. Also many people don't believe in caste just for selfish and honourless reasons liek dating.

There is nothing wrong in being proud of your heritage, and caste is a part of that. I don't see a problem in someone saying they are proud of their jatt heritage, for example. Problems arise when people fail to realize that caste plays no part in Sikhism, and when people begin to think they are better then their fellow man, simply because they come from a higher caste, bullS#!t and against the teachings of Sikhism. People shouldn't be so politically correct, stop getting your knickers in a twist over someone being innocently proud of their background, on the other hand, I think we should try and not to cause divisions in the Sikh community over caste, as we live in times where there is enough division already. I'm basically saying, strike a f**king balance. I don't believe in the caste system, never have, but I don't have a problem with my jatt mates giving it large about their heritage. If everyone was like me, there would be no debates over caste, I have the perfect outlook. P.S... I LOVE THE JATTI'S

Also I have no problem at all as with many jatts with people of other castes, nationalities, religions and backgrounds giving it large, I think it can be very good, except for extremists who want to convert everyone of course

I think...its ok to recognize a group....but to believe that you are superior simply based on your birth and not merits is retarded.....and will hurt you in the long run.....
Also..I think this goes beyond the indian caste system, I dont think sikhiism believes in the western caste system either...that is to say...dont get all happy over some silly lenghty job title...

pride comes before a fall...until we let go of the 'i am better than him because I am this caste' attitude our kids and generatoins are going to continue to go through heartbreak and crap like us. I live in oz where there are hardly any desi's and parents should be over the moon if thier kid even consders marrying one, and seriously caste should not even be mentioned, did not all the castes unite and bleed for the same cause. The ones who make a problem are the ones who think they are the best caste, they forget that the orginal panj piari where all choore'and chumars that got up and were willing to die for god and thier community. the upper classes were the weakest link in the beggining, only later on did they come to their senses. I have seen the desi' boys here in oz and the most mis-behaved are the ones who think they are upper class, they screw around probably have a few stds and then go back to india to get a virgin bride...brother we all going to die one day and all gonna face judgement, so you canlt hide behind your caste forever...

..how can a topic like this be the talking point? the fact is caste is no longer of any significance, especially as most people on the forum are from UK, U.S, Canada et al. It's just another way of separting yourself apart from others, if you want some kind of identity try finding it through being yourself and only then will you understand how insignificant this subject is.
